I knew George from university days at UNE. We both roomed at St Albert’s College and I fondly remember the fun and high jinx we got up to, but most importantly the wonderful lifestyle we all had in the early 80’s. George’s future wife, Madeleine was part of a great group of friends with whom we all mixed. I vividly remember hearing the news of Cyclone Tracy as we were enjoying Xmas at Terrigal beach and how devastated we were to hear of George’s passing. I would like to have met you Linda to swap stories but that is unlikely now. RIP George Parker
George Valentine Parker was my brother. George had been living in Darwin for a a few years , he worked for the NT government as an agronomist He died Christmas morning after Tracy destroyed his home which he shared with his wife. I had recently arrived from the UK and was married on the 21st December 1974 in Darwin cathedral. My brother gave me away , was my husbands best man , there was only the 4 of us as well as Bishop Clive wood, an organist and photographer.
We were all injured as the house in Henbury Avenue was completely destroyed
My story has been printed ina book by Richard Cresswell ‘Cyclonr Tracy 50 years 50 stories
Hello Linda we met you this morning at the Darwin cemetery. My name is Tracey and my Mothers name is Joan. She gifted you the Cyclone Tracy pendant I made for her. I just wanted to reach out to you to let you know I dropped a pendant off to Stephanie Brown just now she lost her little sister in CT and I told her we met you she said if I found you to let you know your brothers name along with all those taken in CT are on the back of a beautiful painting she has painted. If you watch the CT documentary she and her surviving sister Christina are on it as well as the painting. Thank you for sharing your story with us. Kindest regards Tracey Tomlinson

Shared a house with George at Wagga for a couple of years.
Great bloke and fun to be around.
Hello Alan
Thank you for your memories.
George enjoyed his time in Wagga before he headed to UNE.
