Our Vision

Remembering Tracy, 50 Years On

Objectives:
As the 50th anniversary of Tracy approaches, our objectives are:
1. To remember and to honour the victims, to help tell their stories, to support and acknowledge their families, and to help find closure where this may not have been possible in the past.
2. To acknowledge and provide a voice for survivors in shaping 50th anniversary commemorative activities
3. To provide restorative and supportive services for survivors and their families, for such things including provision of headstones for victims, assistance with travel back to Darwin, and access to counselling and psychological services.
4. To acknowledge and thank those who helped, from the military, front-line responders, volunteers, those who took refugees into their homes, those who donated, and everyone else who helped, even in the smallest of ways.
5. To create awareness and education about Top End cyclones for current and future residents of the NT
6. To foster reflection at a national level: on how Tracy pulled Australia together as a nation; on what we’ve learned since, and our subsequent responses to other disasters
